This is another tip related to Tip #1 about designing a jewelry gift.
Consider treatments and how the piece will be worn early on in the design process. For example, since this pendant or charm is brass, I know it will eventually start to get a patina on it. Personally, I don’t mind this when it […]

Here’s my first tip for designing a one-of-a-kind piece of jewelry for a special person on your gift list: start wit a component. This could a charm, pendant, bead, piece of chain, whatever, but look for something that represents that person to you somehow.
For example, the brass pendant pictured is from Guyot Brothers, and I […]

Men are notoriously difficult to buy or make something for as far as gifts. Most wouldn’t mind a number of electronic doo-dads, but you basically have to be a rocket scientist to figure out all the RAMS, ROMS, etc that go with whatever their dream machine is. Plus, of course, that stuff isn’t cheap either. […]

I’ve spent a lot of time posting project ideas for holiday related themed items like ornaments, and while these make wonderful gifts to give around the holidays, there is also the option of making specific gifts for specific people on our gift list.

Ruby is basically the web queen of seed beading, and she’s got tons of great, free projects on her site. This is just one of many. She calls this her Wreath/Circle Motif design.

Soft-Flex has this wonderful free project on their site: Beaded Snowflake Ornament Project. It combines crystals and Artistic Wire. Very cool! The instructions say it takes about an hour to make. So again, depending on how many you want to give away, this would be a very do-able holiday gift.

When you lay this flat, it looks like a flower with each section of beads working as a petal. These are some of the fastest ornament covers to make too. The stitching is similar to netting, but you make really large net sections for this.
You can find the complete instructions here: “Flower Petal Ornament Cover.”
Again, […]

Way cool! Something for the men in your life. Men are so hard to buy anything for, let alone make anything! I love this tie chain with wire “S” style component from Wire Jig.
You can find a complete step by step including list of supplies on their web site Tie Chain Jewelry Making Project.
