Make Art Monday!
My friend Melanie, of Earthenwood Studio, made these terrific steampunk-inspired ceramic beads and sent a bunch to me to play with. This is what I made:

I’ve got two sets of spacer beads and one tile, all in black and white, left over from this project. The beads and colors are great, but they just didn’t fit in with what I made. So Melanie and I decided to do a giveaway! I’m going to send these beads to a winner, and in addition, Melanie is going to do another drawing and giveaway on her site too! We’ll be running it this week, with the winners chosen on Friday. You are welcome to enter on both our sites to double your chances :-)
Here’s the question that we want you to answer in the comments section. Since Melanie’s beads are all about gears and machinery and time, what would you do with an extra free hour? Completely free. No obligations. What would you spend your free hour on?

Today I would go lie on a blanket in the backyard…up on a hill…lie on my back and contemplate the clouds….and the whisper of the trees….and all of the baby birds chirping. I would come back in totally refreshed and regenerated for sure!

I’d spend it doing something fun and carefree with my lovely husband who sees a lot less of me now that I’m a beader! Luckily he’s so easy-going and supportive, he never complains!

Wow… can I go spend my hour in your backyard, too, Marilyn? It sounds lovely!
If not, I’d like to spend my hour working on a necklace that I’ve got all planned out in my head, but haven’t been able to do because I’m busy working on a big project and packing! It’s got a lovely metallic lampwork bead, and ribbons, and wire lace… yum!

I’d BEAD! I have 2 or 3 projects that need just an hour here or there to finish up so I can start on something new (isn’t there always at least 4 or 5 things you want to start on right away?!). Seems like there’s never time enough to sit down and finish up one project so you can go on to something you’re just ITCHIN’ to get to! Oh, for an extra hour!

I can’t believe you guys are giving an hour away!!! That is so cool!!!(tee, hee-it would be cool if you could do that!) So, with my free hour I would dust off my mat and do yoga. It’s been too long and I know it gives me the right perspective to life when I practice. (and helps design, too!) Thanks for doing the givaway and your necklace rocks!!!

Have one hour per day that I didn’t have my chronic headache and be able to do whatever I wanted without pain.

A free hour-that is a rare jewel. I love beading, reading, blogging, searching, cooking, sleeping, but I think if I had one hour to myself, I think I would start purging my closet. I love to clean and organize things I no longer need or want and give them away. Weird-I know!

Wow - I run an in home preschool & aftercare and have five kids of my own - love it - really! But time for myself is rare. I would spend a free hour either crafting or soaking in a tub full of lavender. Maybe a walk with the dog - who gets very little of my time. Even better - coffee with my sweet hubby! Hmmmm - so many choices.

Love the colors in this pieces…okay, free hours? I’ve been reading more lately since I’m off from school for awhile, and I have still so much work to do that I feel a little guilty for doing it. So, that would have to be it - 1 hr free to read sans the guilt!

A whole hour with nothing to do? That would be like a dream come true. I think that I would have to go out and lay in my hammock under my pear trees and dream. This would allow me to recharge my batteries.

I USE THE HOUR TO TAKE APART AN OLD WATCH I’VE HAD FOREVER, TO SEPERATE OUT AND USE AS PIECES TO MAKE AND PIN AND EARRINGING SET. THE LEFT OVERS WILL BE PUT INTO A COLLAGE OF SOMETHING ELSE I HAVENT DECIDED ON YET.
