Project Runway…the final elimination

Bye-bye, Chris! I love you and think you’re great fun!
Well, as predicted (at least by me!), Chris was auffed last night. I was so touched to see the love and support among all the final four…what a difference from Season One!
Yes, I finally managed to get the dvds from Season One, and watched the whole thing in two marathon sessions over the weekend. So, here’s the thing. I just read a scathing review of this current season by a viewer who in effect said, “Ho hum…who cares? Not enough drama. No one truly Cruella deVille worthy like the first season.” And I thought, “Huh?”
Do you have to have nasty personalities to make good drama? Just because we all know that the fashion industry is cut-throat, does that necessarily mean that that’s a good thing? Is it terribly boring to have a group with lots of people who seem to genuinely like each other, even though they’re all competing for the same prize?
So anyway, here’s my take on last night, for what it’s worth (not much!): I’m sorry to lose Chris, even though I agreed with the judges. Macabre is the word I’d chose to describe his collection, even though it was certainly very interesting and unique. Rami’s was dark, but Chris’s was darker.

Human hair? Sorry, too scary for me!
Wasn’t it fun to see Tim running around (in his SATURN, of course…big show sponsor) to see everyone? I love that part of the season. I felt sorry for Christian: that huge exuberant personality stuck in that teeny little living space. What a great attitude he had about it, though. I still predict a win for Christian, although I personally like Jillian’s clothing style better.
So what did you think about the episode? Do you like the next to last where Tim makes the visits, or would you prefer them to just cut to the chase?

I was at the edge of my seat during the elimination and although I was excited that Rami won, I was also very sad for Chris, that I had tears…I agree drama doesn’t have to be negative. I still don’t know who will eventually win…I actually like all three of them!
Can I take Tim home to meet my family and friends? Love him!

I think we all need to get in line for Tim! He has got to be the nicest, kindest, most helpful mentor that I have ever seen. I don’t think it’s at all faked how happy they each are to see him. He is gracious to absolutely everyone!
I cried over Chris too, and the really telling thing is that so did the other contestants, including Rami, even though he had to be really relieved. Did you see how he waited for Chris to walk off the stage with him instead of just skipping backstage to tell the others the news?

Hi Cyndi,
Great review about this episode. I was really sorry to see Chris eliminated. I would have like to see his whole collection. He is so radical and I guess I am drawn to that. The hair did have an incredible effect with the light. And the safety pins were unique and innovative. I really enjoyed seeing everyones studio and how they lived. I thought Christian was very inspiring in his space because so many artist use space as a reason they can’t do what they want to do. I also liked visiting Chris’s friends apt. Amazing how lived in and artistic his apt was. I know a lot of people that just can’t make a place their home because they don’t “own” it. So I was really inspired by the fact that he got in there and “owned” it by living in it…not by buying it.
Glad you wrote about this as I really wanted to put my two cents in.

I think this was one of my favorite episodes *ever*…even though it meant the last of Chris. I agree with you, I loved seeing how each of them was living and working :-)
