Articles in Jewelry Crafts January/February 2008 issue
I’ve got two articles in the issue of Jewelry Crafts magazine currently on the newsstand. The first is a spin on an Art Nouveau classic design, called Princess Hyacinth. Here’s the princess:

She’s a pretty one, isn’t she? She’s the work of Alphonse Mucha, a brilliant printmaker who lived from 1860 to 1939. The poster was an advertisment for a fairy tale ballet of the same name, and she inspired this piece:

Obviously, you could use any picture you wanted in this necklace, not just Princess Hyacinth :-)
The second article is about some really quick and easy pins, stitched on a metal mesh background. These work up fast enough that if you made one in holiday colors, you’d have it ready for festive occasions in no time!

I live near Darmstadt in Germany. It was an art deco centre at one time and pictures of Princess Hyacinth are incorporated into several pieces of public art. I wonder if Mucha worked in the area where I live.

I don’t know about that, Kate, but the ballet was preformed all over Europe, I believe! I had no idea you live in Germany…how cool is that!?

Thanks Mary! Yes, the instructions are in the Jan/Feb issue of Jewelry Crafts, which should still be available at local bookstores.
