End of the year…a few last pieces

Make Art Monday
Here are a final few pieces that I made over the last two months. They are all either getting ready to be shipped out for various articles, or in the case of the Maple Leaf necklace, may appear in an upcoming book in 2008.
I hope your 2008 will be productive, fun, healthy, […]

Bead Journal Project - November’s Beaver Moon

So, I’ve managed to end the year still on schedule! I spent the month of December thinking about how the word beaver makes me giggle in a very juvenile way, and realizing that I really didn’t want to do an actual portrait of a beaver on my beaded page for November’s Beaver Moon.
What to do, […]

Articles in Jewelry Crafts January/February 2008 issue

I’ve got two articles in the issue of Jewelry Crafts magazine currently on the newsstand. The first is a spin on an Art Nouveau classic design, called Princess Hyacinth. Here’s the princess:

She’s a pretty one, isn’t she? She’s the work of Alphonse Mucha, a brilliant printmaker who lived from 1860 to 1939. […]

Book review: Celtic knot jewelry

Suzen Millodot is the author of this gorgeous book. She has created jewelery from real three-dimensional Celtic knots, embellished with beads and pendants. Suzen demonstrates techniques such as button and braid knots, plaits and Turk’s Head knots and shows how to use them to make eighteen different projects, including necklaces, bracelets, rings, brooches and earrings.

Rebecca Brown

Keeping my eye on you
I love Rebecca Brown’s beadwork and her sense of humor! I love love love the names that she gives to her pieces! I also love the way she combines beadwork with other fiber arts. Her site is well worth a visit with a cuppa.
Rebecca writes that her pieces were woven off-loom […]

A lovely pair of earrings from the Beadin’ Path

New Years 2008 Swarovski Drop Earrings
I think these are totally gorgeous! Even if I don’t get around to making them in time for New Year’s, they’re definitely on my list for very very soon! Just in case I have an elegant occasion or two that I have to attend. Like, I don’t know, maybe the […]

Pieces came home from Rockport Press!

Make Art Monday
All of the pieces that I sent for consideration for the upcoming book, 1000 Jewelry Details, have returned home. I was very happy to see them again, especially Orinoco Flow. It happens to be my current favorite :-)
I don’t know which if any of my pieces will end up in the book, […]

Book Review: The Art of Jewelry ~ Wood

The Art of Jewelry: Wood
by Terry Taylor
I made this necklace all the way back in February, specifically for Terry Taylor’s new book on wood jewelry, published by Lark. It features vintage rulers and yardsticks, and little wood-related images and definitions from a vintage dictionary.  When I received my contributor’s copy of this book, I […]
