Join a Bead Society
For about 2 to 3 years, I was a member of a local bead society. Eventually, the group broke up for various reasons, but I learned so much at our monthly bead meetings.
I’m sure not all bead societies operate in the same way, but ours pretty much just met and taught each other to bead at each meeting. I learned about 90% of my bead weaving skills from those gals who were very generous with their knowledge.
I found a national list of bead societies over at the Just Beads web site. Take a look and see if there’s one near you. You may have beaders in your own backyard and not even know about it.

Hi, Tammy,
Thanks for a good post. Everyone should check out their local bead society. Other craft groups are a lot of fun, too, like poly clay guilds etc. For another national list, check out http://www.rings-things.com/cgi-bin/forum/ikonboard.cgi?act=SC;c=7. We think we have the most extensive bead society list on the web!
Take care,
–Dave
