Hey, hey. Yes, I know. I don’t have enough to do, right?
Well, I took on another jewelry writing gig. This one is for The Beading Times, which is a sort of on-line magazine. It’s normally updated monthly, and I’ll be writing a monthly column on wire jewelry making for them starting next month. That’s, like, [...]

You may (or may not) have noticed, but I’ve added two new categories to this blog - paper clay and polymer clay.
These are two media that I have to admit that I’m not very familiar with, really only played around a little, but I’ve got the clay ich and decided to scratch.
Any clay people out [...]

Okay, here is the beginning of my paper clay star ornament. I rolled out the clay and used a cookie cutter to cut the shape. I know, kind of big for jewelry, but I’m going to look around for maybe some smaller cutters.
One thing that didn’t work out so far like I had expected is [...]

With the holidays coming up, what do you give to your favorite rock hound? Books on lapidary and gemstones are always a wonderful gift for the jewelry rock enthusiast. If you use gemstones, whether beads or in some other form, then you need to know your rocks. I have a pretty good rock library going [...]

I bought one for myself about a year ago, and I love it. The beadwork is exceptional, and I’m constantly getting asked about it. Plus, as an [...]

Normally, his videos, though well worth it, aren’t cheap, but heck, Preston’s the only guy out there making videos (okay, DVDs now) like this, so this might be a good way to save some money for wire wrappers out there. Here’s what [...]

While this project on the Paper Clay web site is designed to make a box, obviously many of the techniques can be adapted to jewelry.
I’ve been experimenting some with paper clay, and so far, I like it. The finished pieces are really light, so you can have large items and not have to worry about [...]

Interesting that now that I’m thinking about clay lately I happen to catch an episode of DIY’s Craft Lab where they were making all kinds of Christmas ornaments using clay.
The picture above shows how they used canes, cut them up, and then tiled them over a glass bulb. The project is titled Polymer Clay Ornament, [...]

If you’re lucky enough to have some basic knitting skills (I’m knitting challenged), then you may want to check out this project posted on the Crafts Bits web site for these Knitted and Beaded Christmas Ornaments.
I’ve seen these before, and they always look so pretty and sparkling with the beads added.
