Jewelry Show Time

Back in the day when I was active on the art show circuit, around this time of years things were just starting to heat up for me. Most shows I did around November and December, and it was brutal as far as time and energy. However, while I made some decent money, the best thing about doing shows was the learning experience.
My husband used to call it “data collection,” and I think that’s a good term for it because even if you have an off show or don’t make as much as you’d hoped considering all the time and effort (and it takes a lot of both), you can’t image how much you learn from having so much exposure to the public. It’s like having your own mini-jewelry store for a few days.
While a lot of what I learned about preparing and setting up for shows I learned the hard way, there is a lot of information out there for beginners these days, and that includes a ton of information - almost overwhelming in fact - over at www.wire-sculpture.com. He has a whole page called “Everything You Ever Wanted to Know about Working Craft and Jewelry Shows.” Preston has way more experience on this than I do, so I recommend printing this puppy up and reading it and re-reading it.
