Jewelry Council

Fairly regularly, I’ll get an email from a jewelry maker, or I sometimes suspect someone who doesn’t make jewelry but is under some weird impression that he/she could making a lot of money doing it, about jewelry buying stats. They want to know things like what sort of demographics describe the average jewelry buyer. You know, boring things like that.

Heck, I really don’t know. I make jewelry because I like to, and if I make money at it, that’s really good too. In fact, that’s great, but I don’t try to get overly concerned about stats. The jewelry comes first with me.

However, that’s not to say there isn’t a lot of good nuts and bolts information out there that could help those who have a jewelry business or want to some day, and one resource to look at would be the Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council:

The Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council (JCOC) was founded in 2001 with the mission of providing the gem and jewelry industries with fast, efficient, effective, and powerful business and market intelligence about their jewelry products and their respective end use consumers.

The Jewelry Consumer Opinion Council is:

  • An Internet based e-panel and market research analysis system exclusively for the gem and jewelry industries
  • A panel of fine jewelry consumers throughout North America representing all ages, genders, income levels, buying categories, and geographic regions
  • A fast and efficient method for learning what consumers have to say about the key marketing variables: advertising, brand, pricing, product, service, channels, and styles
  • The ultimate tool for predicting market behavior rather than reacting to it
  • A unique vehicle for quick and effective quantitative and qualitative consumer and market research with real time results available online
  • An ideal instrument for tracking studies of brands and brand equity
  • Perfect for customized research projects, overnight studies, regular monitoring of issues, and low cost participation in omnibus studies
