Super Jewelry Maker

by Tammy Powley on June 22nd, 2006

moxie_bracelet.jpgWhile doing research for my dissertation (pinky swear that I was!), I discovered this really cool and inspirational site called Another Girl at Play. On this site, among other things, are a bunch of interviews with full-time working women artists. And, yippy, there is a jewelry maker included: Andrea Scher, a painter and jewelry maker who runs a business/website called Superhero Designs. Pictured is her “Moxie” bracelet.

I really enjoyed reading her interview, and in particular her advice: “Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. There is no way to know everything about your creative endeavor until you start doing it. Don’t wait, thinking that you’ll start when you know what you’re doing. This will only paralyze you and keep you from ever beginning it.”

Man! This is so true. Often I feel like I jump into things to quickly, and I’ll admit my “brillian” ideas don’t always work out. Many times, in fact, they don’t. However, at least I can say I tried something, and eventually, something works. Your other options are to do nothing and feel sorry that you never tried.
