Jewelry Goodies from Belle Armoire

After flipping over to page 81 to read my book review, I started browsing through the Jan/Feb 2006 edition of Belle Armoire magazines. Like most of the other magazines published by Stampington Company, this is a gorgeous publication. Here are some of the jewelry highlights from this issue:
p. 10 “Pocket Watch Neckpieces” by Leslie Hamlin - This mixed media artist takes old pocket watch skeletons and creates collages inside of the shells. Then she wire wraps them for a kind of bezel affect, and attaches leather straps.
p. 32 “Bracelets from the Button Box” by Elaine Schmidt - My love of fabrics has given me a fondness for buttons. When I used to sew, picking out notions like buttons was always the best part for me, expect for the fact that they can be so expensive these days. This looks like a simple project where you attach buttons to an elastic cuff.
p. 34 “Mizuhiki Madness Paper Cord Jewelry” by Lynne Everett - I’ve never heard of this before, but I guess Mizuhiki (Me-zoo-he-key) is made from Washi paper. This artist uses it to make bracelets and earrings.
p. 42 “Sarah Shriver” by Rice Freeman-Zachery - Fabulous - amazing - polymer clay beads - Just blows my mind when I see stuff like this. I’ve always been polymer challenged.
Gallery section - Lots of jewelry here, beaded and wire - some interesting use of chandelier crystals as pendants and chipped beads mixed with pearls and crystals.
