10 Tips for Jewelry Supply Shows
This Friday I plan to attend a G&LW wholesale jewelry show in Orlando, Florida. The next weekend, theres the BeadExpo (which includes wholesale and retail days) in Miami, Florida. These types of shows are excellent for stocking up on needed items from beads to findings to wire and tools. Ive been to a lot of shows, so here are some tips Ive picked up over the years:
1. If its a wholesale show, make sure you have extra copies of your tax ID certificate. Some vendors may require it.
2. Wear a fanny pack to store your money, receipts, and other times on securely on you.
3. Bring an extra bag, such as an empty back pack to carry the beads and supplies you purchase. Between the fanny pack and back pack, youll keep your hands free to touch all the wonderful merchandise you purchase.
4. Wear comfortable shoes and clothing. Youll be doing a lot of walking.
5. Dont purchase items too soon after arriving. Make sure you take a good look around first because some vendors will have identical merchandise at different prices.
6. Be suspicious of vendors who do not clearly price their merchandise.
7. Either bring a lunch or extra money for a meal.
8. If you must drop off something to your car, never, ever, ever go alone!
9. Try to attend the first day for the best selection.
10. Try to get receipts, but if you forget, have scrap paper and a pen in your fanny pack so you can write down the amount and vendor before you forget.
